Laying on my back
In my bed
"I will praise You"
Is what I said.
But then they came
Salty tears
Out from my eyes
Into my ears!
My heart it trusts
My mind believes,
But my emotions
How they deceive!
My heart it trusts
My mind believes
Now my emotions
Help to relieve!
Tears are healing
Tears are good.;
So why stop them?
(As if I could!)
Time they say
Really will heal
Not the memory,
But the way I feel...
Thank you, Lord
For this thought,
Emotions are part
Of what You've wrought
I wrote this poem yesterday. Time does have a way of dulling the sharp pain of loss, but emotions are the last one to know this, I think. It brings to mind the verse about our being "wonderfully made" Read Psalm 139. and verse 14 stands out, "I will praise you; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are your works; and that my soul knows right well."
Thank You for sharing this Alice, I think you said it perfectly. This holiday will have it holes and tears. But we'll sing those favorites a few times more and remember their smiles as they sang them before. Thank You for being Momma's sweetest friend all these years. BIG HUGS to you.
